The OMS Beta Club attended the annual State Beta Convention in November of this past year. This is the 3rd consecutive year the group has attended the state convention, each year trying out different competitions to allow the students to get involved in different areas of academics, service and leadership! We are proud to announce that the Marketing Group (pictured above) placed 4th out of the entire state of Tennessee! Their objective was to come up with a 2 minute marketing campaign to assist in a community based project! The girls decided to start the “Beta Buddies”, a project that allows a middle school Beta Club student to pair up with a resident of our local nursing home! The girls visited the Oneida Nursing home for a ‘trial run’ before the state convention! After presenting at the state convention and placing 4th (out of 85 teams), they qualified for the National Beta Club Convention Marketing Competition, to be held this Summer in Orlando, Florida! This is the first year a group competition has placed in the top 5 of the state and earned the opportunity to continue on for the National Beta Club convention! We are so proud of this amazing group of young ladies and all of their hard work! We would also like to give a huge thanks to Jessica Shepard, for allowing our girls to visit the nursing home and make these special bonds with their residents! This program will hopefully expand each year.
