Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville gratefully accepted a donation of $2,500 from the Scott County Historical Society. The funds will be used to provide scholarships for students in our Earthmoving Equipment Operator program.
Earlier this year, students in the Earthmoving program completed the excavation work for the construction of the new Veterans of the American Revolution memorial at the John John Yancey Memorial Park in Huntsville, which was a project of the Scott County Historical Society. The memorial honors the Revolutionary War veterans who later moved to present-day Scott County (15 in all), and was built as part of America’s 250th celebration. The project provided an opportunity for our students to apply skills they learned on campus in a real-world setting.
TCAT Oneida/Huntsville’s Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to students to help bridge the gap between traditional financial aid and completing their education debt-free. We are appreciative of the Scott County Historical Society and President David Jeffers for their work in preserving our community’s history and for their support of TCAT and our students!
