Sen. Yager announces $8,521,863 million in Site Development Grants
NASHVILLE – Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) announced that Roane, Morgan and Scott counties will receive more than $8,521,863 million through the latest round of Tennessee’s Site Development Grant (SDG) program, helping prepare industrial sites for future economic development, job creation and private investment.
“Strong infrastructure and shovel-ready industrial sites are essential to attracting new investment and creating good-paying jobs,” said Yager. “These grants reflect Tennessee’s commitment to preparing our communities for future economic growth while strengthening our state’s competitive advantage. I appreciate the continued partnership between state and local leaders to ensure we are ready to seize new opportunities as they arise.”
“Our administration has made significant investments to strengthen the competitiveness of communities across Tennessee, specifically in our rural areas,” said Gov. Bill Lee. “We appreciate the local leaders who are laying the groundwork for future economic development and positioning their communities to attract new investment and job creation.”
Boards that are receiving grants in Senate District 12 include:
Roane County Industrial Development Board – $4,049,654 for the Buttermilk Road Site to support due diligence and property acquisition.
Morgan County Economic Development Board – $4,372,209 for the Morgan County East Industrial Park to fund property clearing, site improvements, access road construction, and water and sewer infrastructure design.
Scott County Industrial Development Board – $100,000 for the Airport Industrial Site to complete engineering work and due diligence.
The Site Development Grant program is part of the Rural Economic Opportunity Act and provides funding to improve the economic competitiveness of Tennessee’s rural communities by preparing industrial sites for business recruitment and expansion.
Applications were reviewed by an advisory committee consisting of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Austin Consulting, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Each application received support from the community’s senator and representatives in the Tennessee General Assembly.
