Local Middle School youth reaches 1000 points
By Lesish Martin
The Fairview Rebels traveled to Elk Valley on Jan. 6, 2026, for a regular basketball game for the teams. Drew Walker scored his first point in playing basketball as a sixth grade middle schooler at the Elk Valley gymnasium. He returned with a goal in mind for this night’s competition. To achieve 1000 points as an eighth grade middle schooler. Lacking only 13 points entering the game. He reached his goal with his family, friends and fans there to encourage him. A great accomplishment reached by hard work, determination, and love of the sport. His determination to improve in his skill and his love of the game should be an example to us all, Never Give Up! Congratulations to an outstanding young man and Best Wishes in your future career. Drew is the son of Justin and Alison Walker and an awesome role model for his brothers Blake and Ty. Special Thank You to Jericha Hughett for her amazing customized ball.
