James C. Jeffers

James C. Jeffers, age 40, departed this life on October 28, 2025 at his home. Born on May 9, 1985 to his parents Janice Hammock and James L. Jeffers.
He was a substitute teacher for Scott County School System. James was a member of the First Baptist Church on Main Street. Our hearts are broken, but we know that he has been made new in Christ. He is gone too soon and will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
James was preceded in death by his mother: Janice Hammock Jeffers; Uncles: William and Luther Phillips, Estel Duncan; Aunt: Mary Hammock; Grandparents: Lebert Jeffers and Nola Smith Jeffers, Willie Hammock and Emily West Hammock.
He is survived by his Father: James L. Jeffers; 2) Brothers: John Jeffers, Andy Jeffers; 1) Sister: Sherri Lay; Aunts: Nancy Lee Duncan, Shirley Hammock, Ruthie Hammock Carson and husband Dean, Judy Hembree and husband Donnie; 4) Uncles: Harvey Hammock, William Hammock, Jr., Moses Hammock, and Daniel “Muck” Hammock; 1) Nephew: Johnny Lay; Other Special Cousins, Relatives, and Friends
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to the following for the care given to James, Mark Byrd and his pharmacy staff, Covenant Hospice Care, and Thompson Cancer Center.
The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
