A County in Prayer
In Scott County, faith has long served as a unifying force during moments of uncertainty, grief, and crisis. Early last week, the community played witness to two widely attended prayer services demonstrating the community’s deep reliance on prayer for strength and clarity. On Monday, 150 citizens and multiple clergymen from several denominational faith backgrounds gathered at the Scott Christian Care Center seeking divine guidance on the contentious landfill and transfer station debate, asking for wisdom and discernment as leaders and citizens continue to weigh its potential impact on the region’s future. The second service resulted from the tragic assassination of Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk. Two hundred and fifty citizens joined Gather Coffee for a solemn candlelight vigil, bringing together men, women, and children from all across Scott County in mourning and reflection. Together, these services echoed Scott County’s devout spirit of unity, resilience, and enduring belief in the power of faith.
