Morris Leonard Stephens

Morris Leonard Stephens, age 75, of Winfield, TN, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the North Knoxville Medical Center in Powell, TN. Born December 27, 1949, he was the son of the late Charles Lewis and Ethel Wilson Stephens. On June 11, 1974, Morris entered the Coast Guard from which he retired in 1997. He and his family moved to Scott County, TN, where he started working at Hartco until his retirement. Throughout his career, Morris met many friends who remained his friends until his passing.
Morris was baptized into the Baptist faith and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Strunk, KY, where he was ordained as a Deacon on February 13, 1999.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchildren: Ashton Stephens and Alannah Stephens; brothers: Harold Lay of Knoxville, TN, and Donald Stephens of Nashville, TN.
Morris is survived by his wife of 55 years: Bonnie Stephens of Winfield, TN; sons: Tony Stephens and Brian Stephens, both of Winfield, TN; grandchildren: Joseph (Leah) Stephens of Corbin, KY, Dustin Stephens of Winfield, TN, Christian Stephens of Clarksville, TN, Nick (Brooke) Stephens of Cleveland, OH, Kyle Stephens of Winfield, TN, Lindsey Jones of Lexington, KY, Bree Stephens of Oneida, TN, and Marrisa Stephens of Somerset, KY; great grandchildren: Bravery Stephens of Stearns, KY, Leland Stephens of Pine Knot, KY, and Indy Stephens of Cleveland, OH; siblings: Phyllis (Delmon) Strunk of Winfield, TN, Sam (Stella) Stephens of Lenoir City, TN, and Rachel Kidd of Knoxville, TN.
Morris’ passing has left so many grieving, but he left a testimony that one day he would be living in God’s paradise and prayed fervently his loved ones would one day join him.
Extended family and friends may visit with the Stephens family on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. George Asbury officiating. Music will be provided by the Duncan Family and Tony Daugherty.
Committal service will follow in the Stephens Family Cemetery in Winfield, TN.
