“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.”
(Matthew 6:9, NKJV)

Rev Dale Lee
Bertrand Russel (1872-1970) a British philosopher, mathematician, author and great brain, once wrote that society would be better off if it could reduce the number of “idiots, imbeciles, and feeble-minded.” Admittedly there is a certain appeal to such a notion. But on second consideration, Bertrand Russell, an outspoken atheist, had no room in his genius mind for a place Jesus called Heaven. And denying the words of Jesus and the truth of heaven makes one feeble-minded indeed. And how sad must human life be on this darkened planet without the hope of a new world of joy, learning, adventures, and glory? Jesus tells us there is a place called heaven which includes the Father’s house (John 14:2), the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:2), the third heaven (2 Corinthians 12:2), and Paradise (Luke 23:43, Rev. 2:7). And don’t you love that word Paradise? As the heroic Christian Stephen finished what would be his final sermon, having faithfully told the people what they did not want to hear, the demonized crowd gnashed at him with their teeth. We are told “but he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.” (Acts 7:54-55). Heaven is there. What will you see as you pass the last minutes of your earthly journey? Heaven is a real place, where the true Christian’s Father abides in eternal glory and grace. Only real Christians have the blessed hope of entering into the Presence of the Father in heaven forever. What joy awaits those whose sins are covered by the blood of Jesus! When we pray, we pray to our Father in heaven. He is there. He is above all. Heaven is real. He is ever attentive. He knows. He cares. He hears. He is God, great beyond description, and our Father. Our Father in heaven, hallowed by Your name. Amen.
