“…although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God…”(Roman 1:21, NKJV)
A homeless young man trying to survive on the cruel city streets told his interviewer that he did not know why he was on the planet but that he didn’t want to die young. But the odds of him dying young are high. Recent studies indicate that more young people than ever are on mind altering drugs and anti depressants. Why? Suicide hotlines are most active during the Christmas season. Why? Man lives under the cruel torments of a satanic empire unless rescued (saved) by the God he so long ago forsook. We might well ask Adam, “Was it worth it?” Man has the shocking capacity to reject truth, to reject light. The Bible tells us that men love darkness rather than light (John 3:19). The Bible tells us that although people once knew God they made the fatal mistake of choosing not to glorify Him. And what does man then glorify? Animals, reptiles, birds. A famous singer who died at age 27 was known as the Lizard king. He believed a spirit lizard lived in him. To know God and to choose not to glorify Him is to condemn one’s soul to eternal torment. Even the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, God has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day. (Jude 6) Do you believe in God? Do you claim to know Him? If so, how are you glorifying Him? Would anyone even suspect that you are a Christian? Or is this one of the best kept secrets of your life? A super talented songwriter of a highly successful rock music band became a Christian. When he told his band members about his recent conversion to Christ, one of them congratulated him on his decision and declared that he too was a Christian. Mr. Livgren replied, “Oh, I didn’t know.” Christians are to glorify God as God; Supreme, Almighty, Infinitely worthy of our love, respect and honor. The first being we know of to know God and then to turn from him in rebellion is Satan. He is accordingly cursed to some day bake and fry forever in the lake of fire. Such is the price for refusing to glorify God. Tragically, Satan will succeed in deceiving multitudes to follow him into torment. Things do not have to turn out like that for you. Repent, glorify God, and do it today.
