SFC. Lee R. Jeffers, Panama, Iraq, Afghanistan
Sgt. First Class, Lee Jeffers was born May 13, 1968 and is the son of Estel and Linda (Gibson) Jeffers. His siblings are David, Annetta, Jo Ann and Tammy. He grew up in the Bufflao Creek area in Scott County where he attended Capital Hill Middle School and Scott County High School. He volunteered for the Army before he was a Senior in high school and left soon after graduating. In the late 1980’s he was stationed in Panama when the US forces took Manuel Noriega into custody and was involved in that skirmish.
In 1991 he was with the 101 st Airborne during Desert Storm, lnitailly he was in Saudia Arabia while the air assault was being waged. From 2001 through 2009 he served three tours in Iraq and two in Afghanistan.
During his last deploymentto Afghanistan he was Lee Roy Jeffers on a medical facility and a call came out for a certain blood type and his was a match. He was taker, by doctors to the trauma unit and was hooked directly to a soldier to feed his blood into the other soldier. This soldier was a victim of a roadside bomb. Sgt. Jeffers looked at the soldier and noticed that the other soldier was hit near the mid section of the body and was gone from the waste down. Sadly the soldier died while being fed blood from Sgt. Jeffers. Soon after this incident he decided to retire.
Sgt. Jeffers, now is retired but working for a Government firm and lives near Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and son Nicholas. He has an older son Joshua Jeffers who is in the US Army and stationed in Kansas. He has a daughter, Chasity who currently lives in Panama.
