On January 24, 2025, after a three (3) day trial, a Scott County jury found Michael Timothy Montgomery guilty of Rape of a Child, a Class A Felony.
Following the guilty verdict, Scott County Criminal Court Judge Zachary R. Walden immediately revoked the Defendant’s bond and scheduled a sentencing hearing for May 27, 2025.
This case was investigated by Detective Lisa Anderson of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Department of Children’s Services. The prosecution was aided by the Children’s Center of the Cumberlands and their facility dog, Lucia. At trial, the State of Tennessee was represented by Assistant District Attorneys General Apryl C. Bradshaw and Janette Taylor.
Sheriffs response
I want to take a moment to recognize and express how incredibly proud I am of one of our Detectives, Lisa Anderson. She came in and took on this case among other cases from a previous administration—cases that were complex, emotionally draining, and required an immense amount of dedication. Despite the challenges, she committed herself to ensuring that justice was served.
Detective Lisa Anderson and Detective Aimee Wright have both shown determination and focus that have made a significant impact—not just on the cases themselves, but most importantly, on the lives of the children involved. These are children who were victims of unspeakable crimes, and because of their tireless work, they now know that their voices matter, that they are protected, and that someone was willing to fight for them.
Thank you Lisa and Aimee for your dedication, compassion, and relentless pursuit of what is right. You are truly making a difference, and I couldn’t be prouder to have you both.
Sheriff Brian Keeton
