Nona Lee Byrd Chambers, age 98, departed this life at her home with her family by her side. She was born on October 12, 1926, to her parents George Corbett Phillips and Ina Elsie Byrd.

Nona Lee was a life-long resident of Huntsville where she worked hard as a rural mail carrier until retirement. She loved her job and cared about the families she served. She dearly loved to garden and grew wonderful varieties of our state flower, the Iris. Most importantly in her life was her faith in God and unwavering commitment to her church community at First Baptist Church, Huntsville. She was a dedicated, faithful and humble servant member all her life. She blessed her congregation joyfully by playing piano, organ, and singing with her daughters in the church choir. Nona Lee loved her church.

Nona Lee Chambers was preceded in death by parents and loving husband of 64 years, James Herbert (Herb) Chambers. Before her passing, the Lord also called home cherished son, James Whitman Chambers (Baby J); Granddaughter: Lauren Elizabeth Swain; Grandsons: Lee Jordan Swain and Lonnie Christopher Ellis; Son-in-Law: Lonnie Ellis.

Surviving are daughters: Karen Ellis and Marsha Swain and husband Mike; Grandchildren: Todd Swain, Jamie Ellis, Megan Hubbard (Mark), Grant Swain (Whitney), Great- Grandchildren: Kristen Spradlin (Newtie), Nathanael Swain, Maddison and Makennah Ellis, Kara Hubbard, Lacey Ellis, Luke Hubbard, Rowan Swain, and Ivy Swain. Great-Great Grandchildren: Willow, Hadley, and Ellie Spradlin.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. until time of funeral service to begin at 3:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Huntsville with Bro. Ashley Ellis and Bro. Kevin Terry officiating. Music will be provided by Grant and Whitney Swain. A Private graveside service will follow.

Pallbearers will be Todd Swain, Grant Swain, Nathanael Swain, Mike Hamby, Tommy Wright, Ted Williams, Mark Hubbard, and Jamie Ellis.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the First Baptist Church of Huntsville.
