Milford “Spot” Dewayne Chambers
August 7, 1961 – October 6, 2024

Milford Dewayne “Spot” Chambers was born August 7, 1961, to the late Milford “Spot” Chambers and Shirley Jean Chambers. His sudden departure from earth was on October 6, 2024. He joined the many saints preceding his heavenly advancement. Those saints are his beloved father, Milford Spot Chambers, grandparents, George and Mary Chambers, Arvil and Nancy Cotton, aunts & uncles: Gladys, Alta, Mazie, Betty, Margaret, Herbert, Roy, Onas, Harold, Junior, J.D. & Roger. He was a born again Christian from an early age and a member of the White Rock Baptist Church.
He leaves behind family including his number one supporter and cheerleader the ever-present, prayerful, loving, and devoted mother, Shirley Jean Chambers, of Murfreesboro, TN. His most cherished prize, the PRIDE and JOY of his life, his son, Physician Assistant James Tristan Burdette, 1st Lieutenant at Fort Cavazos, Kileen, TX, (Mother Debbie Lou Burdette). His eldest sister, Sue Phillips, and special family Pete, Ronnie, Donnie, Jenny, Savannah, John, Scotty, Derita, Jack, Sandra, Brian, Kristy. His younger sister Jean Chambers and special family Rosemary Cope. A very special Aunt Wanda Cotton of Knoxville, Aunt Nona Lee Chambers of Huntsville and Aunt Marva Cotton of Knoxville. Spot was a hard worker known for his resilience and determination. Despite significant impairments, he worked as a driller and blaster for a local coal company and later as a heavy equipment operator for Blalock and Sons in Knoxville. He pulled up his roots and transplanted to Nashville and was employed at UPS, and the Nashville International Airport. He operated his own Landscaping service. He was a passionate outdoorsman, loved trail riding, and exploring the backroads, off-roads, gravel roads, dirt roads, and pothole-filled paths of Scott Co, making cherished pit stops to visit family and friends and stopping by Big Nickle in Norma to grab a bologna sandwich and socialize.
He never met a stranger, loved talking to people, and was proud of Huntsville and its history. His love for his hometown was a reflection of his strong sense of community and his deep connection to those roots. He was an old soul imprinted with the fading values of loving and caring for your neighbor. He enjoyed sitting on people’s front porches, giving food, or offering a bed to a passerby. Unquestionably, he had the bloodline of the Native American Indian and understood the healing nature of earth’s bountiful outdoors. He was a compassionate and nurturing dog lover who protected many dogs from being discarded; he had many special dogs: Duke, Sadie, Paws, Shelby, and Girlie. His dogs thought of him as their whole world. He knew how to love, care, and respect the very least in our society. He didn’t always get the same in return, but reputation is what man thinks however, character is what God knows of you.
Spot was a class of 1980 graduate of Scott High School and later attended MTSU. He was a talented athlete and played many sports, but his passion was football. At Scott High School, he earned the football team’s MVP, his sophomore, junior, & senior year. He proudly wore the Highlander’s number “7” jersey and most likely chose 7 to show up God, because on the 7th day God rested but Spot was always able to go, go, go every day of the week. He loved his football teammates and cherished their memories and the good times on the field.
He will be missed by his Huntsville family and his very special friend & kindred animal lover Linda Byrge, special friends Debbie & Eric Faires, Gordon & Tracy Byrd, Bill Hall, Tony Jeffers, Roger Sharp, Stevie Davis, Jack & Betty Keeton, Jerry Willard & Cara Sue Thomspon, Aaron Thompson, Sandy Thompson, Harold & Roseanne Jeffers, Joe & Janetta Murley, Carlos Jeffers, Jan Byrd, Kerry Hamby, Dean King and Josh & MacKenzie Adkins, Norman McGhee, Lyndal Shepard, Donna Reed Losey, very special friends and spiritual mentors Reverend Dennis Falasco and Brother Tom Hafstad and his church family the First Presbyterian members.
Spot’s family will gather on Saturday October 12, 2024, at the Huntsville Presbyterian Church at 1:00 pm and a celebration of life service starting at 2:00 pm with his body returning to the dust at the Mossop Cemetery. The Reverend Dennis Falasco along with Brother Tom Hafstad will conduct the service. Pallbearers: Ronnie Phillips, Donnie Phillips, Pete Philips, Aaron Thompson, Gordon Byrd, Dean King, Josh Adkins, Bill Hall, Stevie Davis, Robbie Evans, Tony Jeffers.
Spot had a special place in his heart for dogs, so in lieu of flowers, please make any memorial gift to: For the Love of Paws, PO Box 163 Huntsville, TN 37756.
