Smith returns to TCAT Oneida/Huntsville from TCAT Jacksboro
HUNTSVILLE — Tim Smith has been named the new vice president of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Oneida/Huntsville, President Dwight Murphy announced Wednesday.
Smith, a career educator, returns to TCAT Oneida/Huntsville from TCAT Jacksboro, where he most recently served as vice president.
Smith earned his master’s degree at the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of the Pride of the Southland Band. His early career spanned both the private sector and as a teacher in the Oneida Special School District. He began with the Tennessee Board of Regents in 2008, and served as the dual-enrollment coordinator and student services coordinator at TCAT Oneida/Huntsville before taking the student services coordinator role at TCAT Jacksboro in 2017. He most recently served as vice president at TCAT Jacksboro.
He and his wife, Venessa, have two adult sons, Cal and Daniel.
Smith was inducted into the Boys & Girls Club’s Scott County Hall of Fame in 2022 in the category Youth Mentor. He has been the “voice of the Oneida Indians,” calling football and basketball games on radio and television, for more than 30 years.
At TCAT Oneida/Huntsville, Smith will work closely with President Dwight Murphy and the rest of the leadership team to support TCAT’s commitment to student success and workforce development.
Founded in 1967, TCAT Oneida/Huntsville serves Scott, Fentress and Morgan counties in East Tennessee, with its main campus in Huntsville, an extension campus in Oneida, and two instructional service centers in Jamestown and Wartburg, as well as CTE dual-enrollment offerings on high school campuses in Scott, Anderson, Campbell, Fentress and Morgan counties.
