SPEC-4, Ernest L. Roysden; A Brave Soul
Ernest L. Roysden was born on November 25, 1950 in Jamestown, Tennessee. His parents were Floyd and Alpha (Watson) Roysden.
In May of 1970, Ernest was drafted into the Army and made the rank of SPEC-4. While on patrol there would be fifteen men that would leave at a time and stay for up to three weeks, then come back for one week. It wasn’t unusual for the patrol to be shot at by rockets and mortars, in October of 1971, there was an armored personnel carrier that was blown up and eleven soldiers lost their lives, leaving only four survivors. Most of the soldiers were hurt and Ernest still has shrapnel in his hand today. Ernest suffers only from Major arthritis and is a diabetic.
SPEC-4, Ernset Roysden married Joyce Faye Perry and they settled down together and had three children; Eric (October 1, 1972), Randall (December 6, 1977) and James (July 16, 1978). Ernest Roysden is still alive today and will be 67 on November 25. He resides in Winfield, Tennessee between his three sons he has ten grandchildren and has just recently had a great-granchild named Brantley. SPEC-4 Ernest Roysden should be remembered because he was part of the Vietnam War, and he is a brave and kind-hearted and loving man.
