Saturday stop at the Scott County Farmers & Crafters Market in Huntsville, TN
On a rainy Saturday morning at the market, I left with more than I could imagine I would find at the local market. I thought I would see vegetables and crafts! I took the time to see the people behind the tables.
I started at the Farmers Market with a conversation, speaking to Tom Selbach, learned that he is a retired Marine Veteran moved here from Florida. I did thank him for his service to our country and freedom. He said he would do it all over again his duty to protect and serve. He sidelines as a DJ and does Karaoke for parties. A craftier of wooden items, walking sticks, wooden
stands, carved crosses and unusual wood art. He also has dried, bagged Mullein to make tea for medicinal purposes.
Then we have the lady behind the table Lisa Selbah with Greek Delights who makes scrumptious baked Baklava, Greek Cookies and Pastries.
Next, I spoke with Jeff Headings of “The Headings Fixery”. He does precision sharpening and repair. Need your scissors sharpened, he is the man for the job.
On to Sunny Ridge Farm with Andrew and Beth Schadd, who have baked home goods. I just couldn’t pass up the fresh baked sourdough and cheddar cheese loafs of bread. Yes, I bought both, good warm butter and I’m in bread heaven! Beth also makes Focaccia bread, will have fresh next Saturday.
Had to stop at the Jewelry table for some bracelet key chains. I
never have a pocket to put my keys in, a nice, charming brad bracelet will take care of that.
Now to Jane’s Goodies, cookies, candy, zucchini and banana bread loaf’s oh my, Yep a couple of those for mom. I learned from her that she worked at Huntsville Manor and took care of my grandmother Nova King. Chatting with her got me a little sentimental and missing my Nannie, she got up and gave me a hug! I learned that we both attend Oneida High School and graduated the same year. She missed our 50th reunion but we had a nice chat about that.
Check out “Little Woods Hollow” where you can get handmade placemats and woodsy purses (can wear as cross body or over the shoulder). Also cakes, bagged goodies and canned items for purchase, sauces, jellies and pickled eggs.
Oh, I forgot to mention they are having a Christmas in July event
on July 25.
It’s a small world, I love the small town, nice people, listen and learn, everyone has a story.
