Charles Ray Jeffers, age 84, of Helenwood, Tennessee, widower of Shirley June Brumett Jeffers, passed from this life on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving children.
Charles was born in Scott County, TN., on July 16, 1941 to the late Richard (RD) Zachery and Louise Shoopman Zachery. He enjoyed camping, fishing, coon hunting, riding his Harley Trike and being outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter, uncles who were more like brothers, Johnny Zachary, Junior Zachary, a sister, Vivian Lloyd, and JV Brumett and Nim Bishop who were a brother and sister-in-law.
He is survived by his son, Charles Jeffers Jr. of Greenville, TN., his daughter, Sherrie and husband Rick Walden of Oneida, TN., grandchildren, Dalton and wife Cherith Walden, Seth Lloyd, Ricky Dale and wife Tonya Walden, along with two great-grandchildren, Jo- Jo and Jr., two uncles who were raised as his brothers, Bennie Zachary, Clyde Zachary, brother-in-laws, Jeff and wife Lisa Brumett, Floyd and wife Fay Brumett and Donald Brumett. He also leaves behind a special person and care-giver, Buffy Daugherty, special friends Herman Yancey, Toni Yancey and his chosen daughter Lisa Terry Stephens along with numerous nieces, nephews that will mourn his passing.
Per Charles’ wishes, cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM, with a procession to follow to Reed Cemetery, Helenwood, TN., for burial. As a special tribute it is requested for everyone that will ride their bikes in the procession weather permitted.
