Odell Thompson
April 19, 1931 – April 16, 2026
Odell Thompson, aged 94, of Oneida TN, was called home to be with Jesus on April 16, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 19, 1931 to the late George and Bessie (Hunley) Thompson. Odell was a member of the Masonic Lodge #695, where was a three-time Past Master. He played guitar- bluegrass, gospel (Little Jimmy Brown, Wildwood Flower, and songs from that era). One of his greatest joys was playing music with his great grandson Tyler. He loved NASCAR and riding motorcycles. When he wasn’t riding with Mazel, he was crew chief for son Buster when he was motor cross racing. He Loved church, taught Sunday school at New Haven for many years and talked about Jesus to everyone. As he got older and couldn’t easily attend church he watched it on TV all day on Sunday. He loved fixing things and troubleshooting problems. He retired from Hartco Flooring Co. He loved his job and all the people he worked with. He loved family and never met a stranger. (He could out talk anyone). He always had a joke to tell or a very detailed description of whatever he was working on. He was a wonderful caregiver to his wife Mazel before she passed away. He was known for his hugs and gave them freely.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife: Mazel Thompson; Sisters: Ruby Holman and Lela Compton;
Daughter in law: Kimberly Thompson; Son in law: Richard Loomis.
He is survived by his Daughters: Joyce Loomis and fiancé Gary Dobbs, Susie Taylor (Rick); Son: Buster Thompson and fiancé Karen Aldredge; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; Sister Velma (Jennings) Terry; Brothers: Delmar Thompson and Glenn (Glenna) Thompson; Numerous nieces and nephews; and many more relatives and friends.
