Historic Rugby to Host Fourth Annual Chili Cook-Off and Silent Auction

RUGBY – One of Historic Rugby’s most anticipated winter traditions returns on Saturday, February 7, when the Fourth Annual Chili Cook-Off heats up Hester Hall from 5 to 8 p.m. EST. The indoor event offers the public a chance to sample a wide range of chili creations, vote for their favorites, and enjoy an evening centered on food, fellowship, and friendly competition.
Held at Hester Hall in the heart of Rugby, the cook-off welcomes both tasters and cooks alike. Organizers are inviting up to 20 chili entrants to bring a crock pot filled with their own unique take on the classic cold-weather dish. Meanwhile, attendees will have the opportunity to taste and cast votes to help determine the crowd’s favorites.
“The 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off in Rugby has quickly become one of our village’s favorite traditions,” said organizer Robb Goldwire. “I love bringing people together to share great food, have fun, and show off their cooking skills. Events like this are what community is all about.”
Tasting tickets are $15 when purchased in advance and $20 at the door. Children ages 10 and under may taste for free. Those entering a chili into the competition may do so for $10. Organizers encourage early registration for both tasters and entrants to ensure an accurate count for the evening.
In addition to the chili competition, guests can browse a silent auction featuring a variety of unique and locally sourced items. Proceeds from the event help support the non-profit Historic Rugby, Inc.
Because the cook-off will take place indoors, the event will proceed whether it rains or shines. Only severe winter weather, such as snow or icy road conditions, would result in cancellation.
Advance tasting tickets and chili entry registration are available online at HistoricRugby.org/events. Community members and visitors alike are invited to pull up a chair, grab a spoon, and join in a growing Rugby tradition.
