Scotsmen Shut Out Owls, 32–0

By Jodi Bond
The Scott County Middle School Scotsmen put on a dominant performance Thursday night, shutting out the visiting LaFollette Owls by a score of 32–0.
The Scotsmen offense was in top form, piling up 190 rushing yards and adding another 75 through the air for a total of 265 yards. Scott County’s ground game set the tone early, keeping the Owls’ defense on its heels while opening up opportunities in the passing attack.
The defense was just as impressive, forcing two interceptions that were both returned for touchdowns. The Scotsmen never allowed LaFollette to gain momentum, controlling the pace of the game from the opening kickoff until the final whistle.
With the win, the Scotsmen showed balance on both sides of the ball and gave their home crowd plenty to cheer about. The shutout victory also highlighted the team’s ability to turn defense into offense, a skill that will serve them well as the season progresses.
Scott County will look to build on this momentum in their next matchup.
The Scotsmen as a team have only allowed two touchdowns on defense throughout the season. The Scotsmen are coached by Gary Sexton, an experienced coach and former University of Kentucky player, Assistant Coach Johnny West, and Coach Gary Sexton’s son, Jared Sexton a teacher at Fairview and former player at Austin Peay University.
