Big South Fork Medical Center Opens New Wound Care Center
Big South Fork Medical Center is proud to announce the opening of our new Wound Care Center, offering much-needed specialty services to the residents of Scott County and surrounding rural communities. The Wound Care Center provides advanced treatment for chronic and non-healing wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, infections, and wounds related to poor circulation. Patients benefit from specialized care plans that may include wound debridement, specialized dressings, infection control, and patient education to promote long-term healing and prevention.
Hal Leftwich, CEO of Big South Fork Medical Center said, “By opening this Wound Care Center in Oneida, we’re providing high-quality, specialized treatment locally, and helping our friends, families, and neighbors heal close to home.”
As often seen in the Emergency Room, delays in wound treatment can lead to more serious health issues, including infection, hospitalization, or even amputation. The new center provides timely care in a familiar, trusted setting—something that’s especially important in smaller communities where relationships matter and travel can be a barrier to care.
Patients can be referred by a primary care provider or specialist—but self-referrals are also welcome. If you or a loved one is struggling with a hard-to-heal wound, the Wound Care Center team is ready to help. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact our Wound Care Clinic directly at (423) 286-5317.
