Inmate apprehended after fleeing on foot during work release
An inmate participating in a work release detail was assigned to assist with grave digging in the Robbins community. According to officers on scene, the inmate was standing by the gravesite with other inmates when he suddenly fled on foot.
Deputy Philip Lloyd immediately pursued the inmate and was able to apprehend him without incident a short distance from the scene. The inmate was detained and transported back to the Scott County Detention Facility without further issues.
Sheriff Brian Keeton issued the following statement:
“We’re thankful this situation was resolved quickly and safely. I commend Deputy Lloyd for his swift response and professionalism in ensuring the safety of the public and our staff.”
Additional charges of Escape and Felony Evading Arrest will be filed against the inmate.
As always, we remain committed to public safety. Thank you Scott County for your continued support.
