Historic Rugby Holds Murder Mystery Dinner to Benefit New Harrow Road Public House

RUGBY – On June 21st, Historic Rugby’s Hester Hall will be transformed into a 1920s-era speakeasy for a murder mystery dinner to benefit the new Harrow
Road Public House.
Guests are invited (but not required) to pull out their flapper dresses, fedoras, and spats for Murder Mystery at the Cumberland Club. The dinner will feature 1920s-inspired fare prepared by The Canteen and Cottage Catering, including stuffed celery, Hot Brown, a salad with Green Goddess dressing, and Hostess Cupcakes. The evening will start at 6pm Eastern and last as long as it takes for diners to solve the crime and identify the murderer.
Tickets are just $50 per person and benefit the Harrow Road Public House (formerly the Harrow Road Café), which burned back in 2020. Prior to the fire, the restaurant was a popular weekend dining destination for locals and visitors alike.
“For folks that came to the Harrow Road Café year after year, it was a gathering place,” explains Historic Rugby Operations Manager Annie Patterson. “It was where folks connected and where they could catch up on their everyday lives.”
“If any building is the heart of Rugby, it’s the café,” adds Rugby resident Lisa Donegan. “It’s where we would all meet. You might come in with one person, but before you knew it, you were standing there talking to everyone in the village.”
While Phase 1 of the café’s rebuilding is now complete thanks to a sizable grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission as well as many generous donations, a substantial amount of money still must be raised to finish out the kitchen. All proceeds from the murder mystery dinner will go toward realizing that goal.
Space is limited and this event will sell out, so reserve your tickets now by heading to historicrugby.org. You’ll find ‘Murder Mystery at the Cumberland Club’ listed under the Events tab.
