The Scott High wrestling team is celebrating a major achievement as three of its standout athletes have earned spots in the upcoming sub-state tournament. After a grueling regional competition, Ryder Norman, Cayden Moffette, and Lucas Boles secured their places in the next stage, bringing pride to their school and community.
Norman, who finished fourth in his weight class, goes into the sub-state tournament with an 18-11 record. Boles sports a 24-5 record, and also currently holds the school record for most major decision wins in a career. Moffette holds the school record for most career wins and enters the sub-state tournament with a 31-5 record.
Boles and Moffette became the first Scott High School wrestlers to ever place 3rd in the regional tournament. When asked for comment on the situation, Coach Jeffers stated, “All of these wrestlers are very deserving of this, and they have the opportunity to do something no Scott County wrestler has ever done: make it to the state tournament. Being in a position to compete at this level is a tremendous opportunity.”
The sub-state tournament will take place on February 15th at Chucky-Doak High School. Should they wrestlers qualify for the state tournament, they will head for Nashville to compete for the State Championship in the coming weeks.
