At the conclusion of each season, the Scott High Wrestling team hosts an awards banquet, honoring all of their wrestlers and notating any records that had been broken in the season. What head coach Jason Jeffers didn’t expect, however, was a presentation from the wrestlers at the start of the banquet.
Each of the members of the team took a brief moment to share their gratitude to Jeffers for starting the program. Then, Jeffers was presented with a sign, which will hang inside the wrestling facility, noting it as the, “Jason Jeffers Training Facility.”
Jeffers, who built the facility himself, was shocked by the renaming. After being presented with the sign, he humorously stated, “How do I follow that up?” When asked for comment after the ceremony, he said, “This is an honor, but not one that belongs to me. None of this would be possible without the team practicing in it, or my family around me.”
“We’ve done some great things so far with this program, and we’ll continue to push forward into the future.”
