White harvest fields of youth

By Braxton King
“Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in the ways of David, his father; and he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.” – 2 Chronicles 34
The disciples scolded some parents for bringing their children to be blessed by Jesus. Mark gave us Jesus’ reaction, “But when Jesus saw it, He was indignant and said to them, ‘Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.’”
David was 15 when he defeated the giant, Goliath. Esther was 14 when she became queen. Both of these teenagers were used to deliver a Nation from oppression.
Joseph was 17 when he was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. He proceeded to walk in integrity and God elevated him to save his family, and in doing so, saved a nation. Who can not wonder in amazement at the wisdom Joseph had when he said to his frightened brothers, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”
Nehemiah was 20 when he began the rebuilding of the walls of Gods ruined city. Gideon was the youngest of his family, but was called by God a “Mighty man of valor!” Jesus’ disciples were between the ages of 15-20, except for Peter. Edward Payson Hammond said, “The nearer we are to birth, the nearer we are to the new birth.”
Statistics inform us that 83% of all salvations happen before the age of 18. That lets us know that the whitest harvest fields are among the youth of our nation. We know that the enemy is after our youth, so we in the body of Christ, must pray and evangelize the children of our region.
Jeremiah was 17 when he received his call into ministry. He would have been a junior or senior in high school. Josiah would’ve been in elementary school when he began his rule as King. Ester and David would have been freshmen or sophomores. My heart is stirred to its depths for the salvation of a multitude of children. Let’s pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into the white harvest field.
