Scott County Sheriff’s Office arrest 5 people on drug charges
On October 16, 2024, Drug Agents Lee Johnson, Daniel Garrett, and Lt. Cory Lawson conducted a parole check on Arthur Letner’s residence on Letner Road after receiving a tip about illegal drug activity. Letner refused the requested search and became combative with the officers. Letner was detained at that time, and due to being on parole, the officers proceeded with their search of the residence. Inside the home, Nicole Porter, who had an active warrant, was found hiding. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were discovered, leading to the arrests of both Letner and Porter, who were taken to the Scott County Justice Center.
On the same day, Sergeant Dillon Kidd observed a gold Chevy Tahoe on Highway 27 near Oneida, Tennessee. The driver, Thomas Billingsley, was pulled over for crossing the fog line and making abrupt lane changes. Billingsley appeared nervous, claiming he had been texting his brother. K9 Deputy Casey Geisler arrived with K9 Odin, who alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search revealed several bags of heroin with a combined approximate weight of 2.674 grams, a bag of methamphetamine weighing 1.077 grams, drug paraphernalia, spoons, and needles. Both Billingsley and his passenger, Carrie Gardner, were arrested. A search warrant obtained by Drug Agents Daniel Garrett and Lee Johnson led to the subsequent search of Billingsley’s residence that uncovered additional methamphetamine, heroin, pills, and Suboxone, and $270 cash that was seized.
On October 20, 2024, Deputy Trevin Slaven stopped a blue Kia sedan for speeding on Alberta Street. After detecting the smell of marijuana, Slaven obtained consent from the driver, Willard Martin, to search the vehicle. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia belonging to the passenger, Melissa Martin, were found. Willard was released with a warning for speeding, while Melissa was arrested and transported to the Scott County Justice Center.
Arrests are public information and the individuals arrested do not imply they have been convicted of a crime. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
