Knowing God
“And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.” (Genesis 7:1, KJV)God is amazingly merciful. He told the generations alive during the days of Noah exactly what He intended to do: destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth (Genesis 6:7). God meant what He said and each day brought Divine Judgment closer to the masses of ignorant people staggering blindly toward the gates of hell. God is amazingly merciful. He speaks to Noah an invitation to come thou and all thy house into the ark. God wanted all Noah’s family saved. He wants all your family saved too. God is amazingly merciful. He gave grace to the Philippian jailer and his household (Acts 16:31). God is astonishingly merciful. He gave saving grace upon all the household of Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue in Corinth (Acts 18:8). God is amazingly merciful to His enemies, He is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We must realize that God has established a law of prayer. Real prayer makes a mighty difference as to the willingness of people to repent and escape the coming judgment. As Richard Foster has said, “We are working with God to determine the future. Certain things will happen in history if we pray rightly.” Our prayers do not change the nature of God, but they can have a direct infl uence on what God is willing to do. God has established the law of prayer which requires us to ask. Ask and we will receive. Please make a renewed commitment to pray for all your house. Do you have an unsaved family member? Or a family member running from God? These two groups need our urgent prayer: the perishing and the prodigals. What to pray? First, that God would speak to them as powerfully as is necessary to get their attention. Second, that God would open their eyes, turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God (Acts 26:18) Now is the time to pray for all the household turn to God. NO heart is too hard for God.I am looking at a picture of a terrifying sight. Several years ago a Boeing 737 was cruising over the Hawaii islands when suddenly a massive explosion ripped open the fuselage just behind the front passenger door exposing the passengers to imminent death. Flight attendant Clarabelle Lansing, a 37- year veteran, was violently sucked from the cabin and thrown into freezing space, 24,000 feet high. Her body was never found. But amazingly no other passengers suffered death. The damaged plane landed and emergency crews attended the terrifi ed passengers, some of whom had fl own totally exposed to the atmosphere at 24,000 feet. Probably not a single passenger considered that he was saving his life when he clicked the nuisance of a safety belt over him before the plane took off. Turned out to be the difference between life and death.Jesus Christ offers us His saving grace today. He desires all your house to come into Him as did Noah and all his house into the ark just before the deadly waters were released. God is amazingly merciful.
