Ric Spradlin December 31, 1955 – October 30, 2023
Richard (Ric) Spradlin age 67, departed this life on Monday, October 30, 2023, at his home in Knoxville, TN. Born December 31, 1955, in Jellico, Campbell County, TN, he was the son of the late Junior and Aline Spradlin. He was a mem-ber of White Rock Baptist Church, Huntsville, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Quince & Darlena Spradlin, and Albert & Mable Clowers, one brother Paul Spradlin, nephew Derrick Spradlin, sister-in-law Helen Sprad-lin. Ric is survived by his children: Sean Sprad-lin and wife Liana, and Cameron Spradlin & wife Gina of Oneida, Tennesse; grandchildren, Riana Spradlin, Jacob Spradlin, Hayden Spradlin, Barrett Spradlin, Laynie Spradlin, and Elliot Spradlin. Ric is survived by his brothers; Charles Spradlin, & Lyn-del Spradlin and wife Etta; sisters Beverly Stephens and husband Mike, and Dodie Garrett and husband Tim, & Sister-in-law: Glenna Spradlin. He is also survived by the moth-er of his children Laura Lay. Ric had many nieces and nephews and friends he loved very much. Ric is also survived by a very special friend Lonnie Adcock. Lonnie’s family has become his family also. Lonnie’s mother Faye Etta Phillips, brother John Adcock, sister Patty Walker and husband Mark. Ric had developed friend-ships with many people over the years in Oneida, Lafollette, and Knoxville. Ric was employed by First Trust and Savings Bank where he began his career in banking and information technology in 1974. He worked for 25 years for First National Bank of La-follette and then went on to become an Information Technology Specialist for the Federal Deposit Insur-ance Corporation (FDIC), and in later years worked for Pugh CPA’s, Knoxville, TN, as the Senior Informa-tion Technology Auditor. Ric was also choir director for White Rock Baptist Church for over 25 years before moving to Knox-ville. He loved playing the piano and singing. His greatest accomplishment and love were his sons and grandchildren. He cherished every moment he had with them. Thank you to all the caregivers which are too many to name individually. Sallie Anna Rector RootNovember 28, 1938 – November 2, 2023
Sallie Anna Rector Root, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Richard Allen Root entered into eternal rest Thursday, No-vember 2, 2023. Sallie was born November 28, 1938, in Huntsville, Tennessee, daughter of the late Porter Benjamin Rector, Sr. and Martha Helen Pennington Rector. She was a grad-uate of Huntsville High School and attended the University of TN. Sallie worked as a salesperson for Rackroom Shoes in the ‘80s and was the top salesperson many times. She was a devoted Navy wife and worked at the Navy Exchange while raising her children in Goose Creek. Sallie loved attending her children’s sporting events and even coached her daughter’s cheer leading team. She was a breast cancer survivor and supporter. She was predeceased by her sister, Martha Lou Rector Cromwell. Sallie is survived by her husband, Richard of Charleston, SC; son, Elliott “Pete” Rose (Robin) of Goose Creek, SC; daughter, Cindy Rose Bridge (James) of Mon-cks Corner, SC; brother, Ben Rector; sister, Peggy Jane Carson (Tony); eight grandchildren: Jessica Shealy (Billy), Rebecca Chason (Tyler), Katelyn Usher (James), Jason Rose (Molly), Kali Williamson (Nick), Morgan Rose (Kelly Ann), Megan Rose, Devin Rose (Madi); three great-grandsons: Parker Shealy, Oliver Usher, Henlee Rose; four great-granddaughters, Stella Usher, Audrey Rose, Marlee Williamson, Maisie Williamson; and a great-grand on the way, Baby Rose; Several other special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday November 7, 2023, at 12:00 noon. until 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Hunts-ville. Fred Sexton May 11, 1934 -November 3, 2023
Fred Sexton, age 89 of Oneida, TN, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the LaFollette Medical Center in La-Follette, TN. Born May 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Scholfi eld and Opha Sexton. He was a member of the Paint Rock Baptist Church in the Paint Rock community. Fred worked in the paint depart-ment of General Motors; and was a Veteran of the United States Army serv-ing with the 82nd Airborne Division. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Ivanee Sexton, Willie Sex-ton, Ella Mae McQueen, and Milford Sexton; son: Freddie Wayne Sexton; and granddaughter: Am-ber Nicole Sexton. Fred is survived by his wife: Janice Yancey Sexton; two children: Gary Sexton and wife Robin of the Paint Rock Community, and Jill Davidson and husband Eric of Cross-ville, TN; grandchildren: Amber Horne and husband Matthew, Macey Phillips and husband Dallan, Caleb Sexton, Jared Sexton, Jacob Sexton and wife Bailey, Rachel Kries and husband Steven, Anna Lowe and husband Devin, Katherine Telley and hus-band Darius, and Alexan-dra Sexton; great grand-children: Kolt Potter, Gus Terry, Luke and Lillian Horne, Miles Sexton, Ken-syton, Ezrian and Kailynn Telley; brother: Claude Sexton; sister: Mary Lee Sexton, and many oth-er family members and friends. Darrel Phillips, age 59 departed this life on Friday November 3, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 27, 1964, to late Richard L. Phillips. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother: Gary Phillips; Grandparents: Granville & Flonnie Rich. Teresa Triplett Young age 62, departed this life on Sunday October 29, 2023, in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on June 19, 1961, in San Diego, California to the late Herbert Clark Triplett & Loretta Ingram Triplett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Thomas Triplett; In-Laws: Billy Ray Young & Dorothy Young. Christine Cheatham April 10, 1944 – October 31, 2023
Christine Cheatham, age 79 of Helenwood, TN passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Scott County, TN on April 10, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Ju-nie Hogue Stephens. Early in life, Christine enjoyed fi shing, bingo, Christian programs, and to pass the time by she enjoyed the casino and being with family. In addition to her par-ents, she was preceded in death by her son, Junior Hampton of Somerset, KY; brothers, J.C. Stephens and Theodore Stephens; sisters, Thelma Jones, Alene Mullins, and Bonnie Stephens; and grandchil-dren, Octavion K. Hoskins and Marty Wiles. Christine leaves behind four chil-dren: sons, Phillip Hamp-ton of Somerset, KY and Oscar Hampton of Lan-sing, MI; daughters, Chris-ta Hampton of Florida and Geraldine Cheatham of Lansing, MI; brother, Ron-nie Stephens; sisters, Jean Bowling, Hazel Stephens, Nella Mae Honeycutt, Jerry Massengale; a host of many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. Christine’s request was for cremation.
