Donald Ray Jeffers January 11, 1941 ~ September 6, 2023 Donald Ray Jeffers, Born January 11, 1941, to the late Raymond and Florena Lawson Jeffers departed thislife September 6, 2023, peacefully at his home with his loving family. He was a member of the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. Donald Ray, better known as “DJ” to his family and friends was a lifelong resident of the Fairview community, where he and his wife founded & operated DJ’s Pit Stop for more than 25 years. He was a friend and mentor to many people and organizations in Scott County. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. He worked as a rural letter carrier, as well as a postmaster for 35 ½ years. He was instrumental in founding and developing, as well as serving as the first director of the E-911 Service in Scott County. He was on the Scott County School Board of Education for 6 years. He was a member of the Plateau Electric Board of Directors and served with the Scott County Rescue Squad and was a member of the Industrial Development Board. He was a Master Mason and member of the Scott County Lodge #670.
He took pleasure in contributing to many organizations throughout the county. He was an avid sports fan and supportive of all Scott County Athletics, where he took joy in watching his children and then later his grandchildren participating in numerous sporting events. He was preceded in death by his parents, & his mother and father-in-law: Avery and Mary Lee Strunk, grandson: Jadon Jeffers, and Sister: DeAnna Finch. He is survived by and will be missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Zelma Lee Jeffers; Children: Michael Ray (Rosemary) Jeffers, Lisa (Robert) Silcox, & Tony (Jodi) Jeffers; Grandchildren: Jordan (Ashton) Jeffers, Railey (Josey) Chambers, Bobbi ( Eric) Strunk, Kody Silcox, Lexi (Randy Joe) Henry, Drew (Mahaley) Jeffers, & Scott Jeffers; Great Grandchildren: Conlee, Aree, & Owen Jeffers, Peyton Parker, Phinley & Crosby Chambers, Emma & Noah Strunk, Alexis Scarborough, Levi, Toby, & Lane Henry, Henry & Avery Jeffers; Sister: Lynn (Hal) Ward; Brother-in-law: Greg Finch; He is also survived by many other nieces , nephews, relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Tony Jeffers, Robert Silcox, Kody Silcox, Drew Jeffers, Scott Jeffers, Eric Strunk, Josey Chambers, & Randy Joe Henry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Jeffers, Ted Davis, David (Blue) Day, Ted Williams, & RC Hatfield. Mildred Lowe March 21, 1948 ~ September 11, 2023 Mildred Ellen Duncan Lowe, age 75, departed this life on September 11, 2023. She was born March 21, 1948, to the late Euel and Comedith Lloyd Duncan. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. She loved to attend church, loved her children and grandchildren, and loved to spend time visiting with family and friends on the phone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers:Wilbert Duncan, Leamon Duncan, Elmer Duncan, Rexford Duncan, Hubert Duncan, RL Duncan, & Rubin Duncan; Sister: Geneva Hutson, & Hilda Spurlock; brother-in-law’s; Bud Harness and Ricky Lawson and sister-in-law: Hula Duncan and Rose Duncan. She is survived by sons: Tony (Carla) Lowe, Dewayne (Janet) Lowe, and Jamey (Heather) Lowe; Grandchildren: Jessi (Colby) Strunk, Megan (David) Mills, Caleb Lowe, Austin (Kellie) Lowe, Mackensey Lowe, Dawson (Jessica) Lowe, Haley Lowe, Jacob Lowe, Zayne Lowe, Brendan Lowe, and Faith Lowe. Great Grandchildren: Calli, Casen and Gabe Strunk, Rylee and Ryan Mills, Caher Lowe, Cooper, Clayton, and Cohen Lowe, and Easton Lowe; Sisters: Rachel Harness and Leatha Lawson. Shellie WilliamsJuly 22, 1968 ~ September 20, 2023Shellie Lynn Williams, age 55, of Helenwood, TN passed away on Wednes-day, September 20, 2023, atthe University of Tennessee Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Shellie was born on July 22, 1968, in Scott County, TN to Boyd Thompson and Jean Sexton. She was a devoted wife and mother. To know her was to know that her boys were her entire world-she loved nothing more than cheering them on both on and off the sports fields. Shellie was an avid fan of LSU base-ball and enjoyed going to concerts with her friends, and she prided herself in being “Ms. Shellie” to so many young kids who came through Ms. Patsy’s Playschool. In addition to her parents and grandpar-ents, she is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Joyce King, brother-in-law, Keith Williams, uncles Mack Thompson, Charley, Albert, and Crow Sexton, and aunt Sue Grif-fith. Miss Georgia Ann, another sweet angel of ours gained her wings on Monday, September 18th. She was such a precious lady. She had a smile that would light up the room and a laugh that was so contagious. She was one of a kind and loved by so many. She was part of the SAI family.
