Lady Highlanders take District; Win First
Regional Game in 27 Years

After claiming victory in the District Tournament, the Lady Highlanders began play in the Regional Tournament, facing Fulton High School, on Friday. The game was exceedingly close until the fourth quarter, when Scott High’s offense became electric. Scott High led by only four points going into the final four minutes of the game, but would ultimately win the game by ten, securing a 53-43 victory to open regional play.
The win proved historic for the Lady Highlanders. It marked the program’s first Regional Tournament win in twenty-seven years and tied the program record for most wins in a single season, a record set at twenty-five wins by the 1993-94 Lady Highlanders team. That team has been, so far, the only one in program history to ever make it to sub-state. For the Lady Highlanders to do the same, they would need to win once more, becoming at least the Region Runner-Up.
When asked about the win, Scott High coach Rusty Yaden said, “In that first half, we got sluggish on offense, but I told the girls, ‘I think our offense will come together in the second half.’” Come together it did, with standout performances by Addy Rogers and Brittany Morrow. Rogers finished the game with twenty points and seven rebounds, while Morrow had an astounding stat line of thirteen points, nine rebounds, and nine assists, coming extremely close to her first triple double.
Coach Yaden was quick to point out the massive amounts of support to be found in the gym, citing the “unbelievable atmosphere.” Yaden went on to say, “It’s so special. Not all teams get to experience that.” Scott High plays next in the regional semifinals against Northview Academy on Monday, March 3rd, and they intend to bring that energy with them, with a bus shuttling the student section to the game.
