Sgt. Doyle Foster; a Vietnam Soldier
Doyle Foster was born on September 15, 1936 in Scott County, Tennessee. He died on March 25, 1971 while in the Vietnam War. Doyle Foster enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18. He worked very, very hard in the Army. then finally he went to fight in the Vietnam War with all the other soldiers who were risking their lives for our country. He was an Aircraft Maintenance Senior serving with the 174th Assault Helicopter Company. He made the rank of E7 or Sergeant First Class.
While in the war he wrote notes to himself so he could stay persistent. Doyle’s parents really didn’t support him, but they finally supported him later on. SFC, Foster was 34 years old at the time of his death at the Quang Tri Airfield. His parents were devastated when they got the news of his death. This was the reason that they supported him in the first place.
On March 25, 1971 Sgt. Doyle Foster died of gunshot wounds to the head, he had traumatic brain injuries and severe loss of blood at the Quang Tri Province, RVN, he was pronounced dead of suicide. His body was brought back to Scott County and buried in the Carson Memorial Cemetery in Oneida, Tennessee

SFC, Doyle Foster was an American hero to friends, family and to us. He survived the Vietnam War until his death. Doyle was caring, loving and a life saver. His parents missed him very much just like all of the other soldiers family’s did.
