Plateau Players presents The Sound of Music
After wowing audiences with Steel Magnolias, Bright Star, and Christmas Madrigals in 2023, the Plateau Players community theatre group is hard at work for its 2024 headliner musical, The Sound of Music. Directed by Oneida native Glenda Tibbals Gray, the Sound of Music is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization. The production will feature many familiar faces (young and old alike) and introduce theatergoers to several actors new to the Plateau Players’ stage. After launching rehearsals in early August, Gray (a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music) says she is thrilled with preparations and is grateful for the cast’s hard work and dedication to the production. Lisa Cotton and the Scott Christian Care Center’s staff and volunteers are helping with set construction and other logistics.
Shows are scheduled for Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 20, at 2:30 p.m. and Friday, October 25, and Saturday, October 26, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 27, at 2:30 p.m. (all at the Scott Christian Care Center’s Black Box Theatre, 101 Marcum Road, Oneida, TN). Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets early by visiting the Appalachian Society of the Arts website.
