Notice of New Home Loan Applications being taken:
Appalachia Habitat for Humanity, Inc. will be accepting home loan applications during the week of August 12-16, 2024, and August 19-23, 2024. Applications will be for ONE home in Scott County for the 2024 building season.
Appointments will be required for picking up the applications at the Habitat office or you may call the Habitat office at 423-627-2507, to claim an application and to discuss the details of the application process. All applicants must talk to Kendra Bowling, Family Services Manager or Haley Terry, Executive Director before the process can begin.
Applications will be mailed out along with a list of third-party documentation required to complete the application process. Applications and the required verification documentation must be returned no later than September 24, 2024, by 2:30 PM, so please make appropriate plans to have items delivered on time.
ALSO, applications are non-transferable. This means we must have a specific name, address and phone number for each applicant(s) and all applications will be numbered to coincide with that person(s). If an application is copied, then both the original and copied applications will be voided and a notice to that effect will be sent to both parties.
AGAIN, please note this is for one home in Scott County, therefore it is possible that not all qualifying applicants will be approved.
Appalachia Habitat for Humanity, is a non-profit, Christian ministry that works with people of all faiths to eliminate substandard housing in Scott and Morgan Counties.
All persons are encouraged to apply including those with special needs, those who may be homeless, those who are first-time homebuyers and/or veterans. Qualifications will be discussed before the application process begins.

NOTICE OF CITIZENS GAS UTILITY DISTRICT
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETINGS
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby made that the Board of Commissioners for Citizens Gas Utility District of Scott and Morgan Counties (“CGUD”) will meet twice in two separate sessions on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the CGUD Helenwood office site located at 12519 Scott Hwy, Helenwood, TN 37755 (meeting held in “maintenance shop” bldg. at the rear of property site). The first session will be a special meeting held at 8:00 am, pursuant to CGUD by-laws, for the specific and limited purposes of (1) certifying the results of the August 24, 2024 election of a Scott County Commissioner seat, and (2) electing Board officers for the upcoming year; the second session will be the Board’s regular monthly meeting for August 2024 held at 8:15 am (or as soon thereafter as the first special session is adjourned). The public is welcome to attend. Any person(s) wanting to present a concern or issue to the Board at the regular Board meeting (second session) must call 423-569-4457 and register to be on the regular meeting agenda at least five (5) business days in advance of the meeting. At the regular Board meeting (the second session) the following agenda will be addressed:
