Obituaries

Fay Chambers Bayles of the Helenwood, TN community departed this life peacefully at Huntsville Manor on Saturday evening July 20, 2024. She was born on June 24th, 1943, to the late Maynard Dory Chambers and the late Gracie May Green Chambers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Gene Edward Bayles. Also preceded by 5 brothers and 1 sister: David and Gladys Chambers, Willard and Rosetta Chambers, Ralph and Bertie Chambers, R.D. and Nila Chambers, Rev. Charlie and Thelma Chambers and Martha Jane Padgett; one brother-in-law: Jim Jeffers.

Fay was a member of the graduating class of 1961 From Huntsville High School. After graduating she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, at which time she went to beauty school and worked as a hairdresser. She later moved to Indiana where she began working at RCA Record Company which later became BMG Music Company where she worked for 35 years. After retirement, she moved back to her hometown in 2003. Fay enjoyed hosting family reunions and get-togethers to see her large extended family. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and church family. She was a member of the New River Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister Shirley Jeffers. Her special great nephews and caregivers Greg Chambers and Dewayne Jeffers. Stepdaughter Debbie and Mike Haughee. Special step granddaughter Lilly Haughee. Special niece whom she communicated with multiple times throughout each day, Janet and her husband Jerry Watson. Her very best friends Fran Grooms and Betty Strunk and her dog Sadie. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, a host of great nieces and great nephews and many more family and friends. Special thanks to friend Judy Jackson and Pastor David Walker, Fay always looked forward to your visits.

A very special Thank You to the staff of Huntsville Manor for taking excellent care of and meeting the needs of “Miss Fay.” Fay thought very highly of every one of you. Your “Momma” appreciated and enjoyed the interactions she had with you. Greatly Appreciated.

Friends may visit with the Bayles family on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. David Walker officiating. Music will be provided by the New River Church choir.

Committal service will follow in the Daniel Memorial Cemetery in Helenwood. Pallbearers will be: Dewayne Jeffers, Travis Duncan, Dillon Kidd, Joe Chambers, Rick Russ, and Patrick Sexton. Honorary pallbearers will be: John Grooms and Wendell Cecil.

Ada Ruth (Tootsie) Triplett Cantrell, of Helenwood, TN, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the age of 98.  Born in Collie, VA, on February 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Stella McGuire Triplett.

She was preceded in death by her husband:  Earl Cantrell; one infant daughter:  Rita Lynn Cantrell; son-in-law:  Troy Cannon; mother and father-in-law:  James and Ella Cantrell; brothers and sisters-in-law:  Estel (Nora Delpha Laurena) Triplett, C. O. (Ruth) Triplett, Clark (Loretta) Triplett, Bill (Brenda) Triplett, and Jack (Phyllis) Triplett; sisters and brothers-in-law:  infant sister:  Frankie Triplett, Hazel (Sis) Cunningham (Joe); Kate Mullins (Chief), and Jean Lloyd (Virgil); brothers-in-law:  Allen, Gene, Leon and Kyle Cantrell; sisters-in-law:  Pauline Stacy, Marie Quillen, Betty Phillips, and Joan Overbay.

Tootsie is survived by her daughter:  Patsy Cannon of Helenwood, TN; several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

The family extends a special thanks to Jetti, Marshall and Jamie Lloyd for being there whenever they were needed, and to Regina Carson and her nurses for their care and concern, and to Hospice for their gentle care.

Friends may visit with the Cantrell family on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 4:00 p.m.

Committal service will follow in the Reed Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Eddie Allen Camp, age 76, of Oneida, TN, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the Huntsville Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Born January 31, 1948, in Dayton OH, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Jackson and Dorothy Mary Jenetta Brown Camp.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by four sisters:  Pamela Jane Camp, Rosemary Whitmarsh, Martha Camden, and Dixie Lee Shelley, all of Xenia, OH.

Eddie is survived by his son:  Gover Allen Camp of Oneida, TN; brother-in-law:  Larry Shelley of Xenia, OH; and several nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends may visit with the Camp family on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Levering officiating.

Committal service will follow in the Laxton Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be:  Jay Holley, David Sagers, Ronnie Sagers, Jimmey Jenkins, Matt Kiser, and Wade Kiser.

Thelma Faye Ingram Sexton,  age 83, of Prosperity, SC departed this life on July 20, 2024 surrounded by her family at White Oak Manor in Newberry, SC. Born in Clintwood, VA she was the daughter of the late Carl William and Virgie Blanche Whitt Ingram.

Thelma was raised in several lumber camps throughout VA, WV, KY, and TN. She was Valedictorian of the Huntsville High School Class of 1959. She met her future husband Edward Ray Sexton at the Ritter Lumber Company store in New River, TN. They were married on May 22, 1959 in Low Gap, TN. She too was a wife of a lumber man and they moved several times while raising their family. They lived in WV, GA, and SC.

She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and “Mamaw” to her family and many of her family’s friends. She was a great cake decorator and made many cakes each year for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons: Corbin Ray (Karen) Sexton of Prosperity, SC and Thomas William (Jacqueline “Jac”) Sexton of Prosperity, SC; daughter Carla Sue Sexton of Chapin, SC. Six Grandchildren: Jason Corey (Jennifer) Sexton and Lindsay Edward Sexton; Jonathan Leamon (Carrie) Sexton and Edward William (Haleigh) Sexton; Anna Marie Amick and Patrick Dustin Amick. Ten Great-Grandchildren: Elijah and Kera Sexton, Rosealynn Sexton; Cassie, Julia, and Enoch Sexton, Jeremiah Sexton; Bailey, Skyler, and Landen Teseniar. A sister, Kathy (Hugh) Daugherty of Pomaria, SC; sisters-in-law, Linda Sue (George) Davidson of Danville, KY, Donna Kay (Kermit) Jeffers of Senoia, GA and Sarah “Sug” Sexton of Oneida, TN and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Edward Ray Sexton, her parents, her in-laws Lindsay and Glenna Sexton, she was also predeceased by a sister, Loretta Ingram Triplett.

The family will receive friends on Saturday July 27, 2024 at 12:00 noon until time of funeral service to be held at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville, TN with Bro. Joey Zachary Officiating. Music to be provided by Carrie Sexton and “Dancing in the Sky “sung by Skyler. Burial immediately following at Reed Cemetery in Helenwood, TN.

Pallbearers are Jason Sexton, Lindsay Sexton, Jonathan Sexton, Edward Sexton, Patrick Amick, and Steve Young.

The Family would like to thank Dr. James Phillips at Chapin Family Practice, White Oak Manor Nursing Home, and MSA Home Health & Hospice for their care over the past year.

Clifford Randall Smith, age 58 of Helenwood, TN passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at his home with his sister and caregiver by his side. Born in Scott County, TN on November 3, 1965, he was the son of the late Clifford and Juanita Stephens Smith. Randall was a firm believer in Jesus Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Isaac and Della Smith and Fred and Mae Stephens; cousin, Trina Patterson; several aunts and uncles.

Randall is survived by his sister, Carol Sue Smith; aunts, Shirley (Mathis) Patterson of Oneida, Phyllis (Willis) Noble of Ghent, KY; uncle, Herbert Smith of Paint Rock; cousins, Patrick Patterson of Knoxville, Shonda Noble, Mark Noble of KY; a very dear and best friend, Judy Sexton; as well as many other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Smith family on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Dudley Harness officiating. Music will be provided by Arnold and Lloyd Stephens.

Committal service will follow in the Hazel Valley Memorial Cemetery in Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Daniel Bowling, Arnold and Lloyd Stephens, Zach Brown, O.B. Cotton, and Willy Noble.
