Six Offenders Remanded To TDOC Custody

During the most recent session of the Scott County Criminal Court on July 8, 2024, Scott County Criminal Court Judge Zachary R. Walden sentenced the following individuals to sentences to be served in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Corrections (TDOC):
Scott Allen Jeffers was previously convicted of Theft over 1,000 and received a 2-year sentence which was suspended after having served a 120- day jail sentence. The suspended sentence was supervised by TDOC. Mr. Jeffers was found guilty of violating the terms of his supervised probation and was ordered to serve the balance of his sentence in TDOC custody.
Troy Lee Thomas was previously convicted of Theft Over $2,500 and received a 2-year sentence which was suspended after having served a 49- day jail sentence. The suspended sentence was supervised by TDOC. Mr. Thomas was found guilty of violating the terms of his supervised probation and was ordered to serve the balance of his sentence in TDOC custody.
Robert Michael Newport was previously convicted of Attempted Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon and Felony Evading Arrest and received a 6-year sentence which was suspended after having served a 6-month jail sentence. The suspended sentence was supervised by TDOC. Mr. Newport was found guilty of violating the terms of his supervised probation and was ordered to serve the balance of his sentence in custody.
Billy Ron Lewallen was previously convicted of Theft Over $1,000 and Possession of Schedule II Meth and received a 2-year sentence. Mr. Lewallen was found guilty of violating the terms of his supervised probation and was ordered to serve the balance of his sentence in TDOC custody.
Edmon Ray Lowe was previously convicted of Felony Evading Arrest and received a 2-year sentence which was suspended after having served a 60-day jail sentence. The suspended sentence was supervised by TDOC. Mr. Lowe was found guilty of violating the terms of his supervised probation and was ordered to serve the balance of his sentence in TDOC custody.
William Cory Garland was previously convicted of Burglary and Possession of Schedule VI Greater than ½ Ounce with Intent to Sell and received a 2-year sentence which was suspended. The suspended sentence was supervised by TDOC. Mr. Garland was found guilty of violating the terms of his supervised probation and was ordered to serve the balance of his sentence in TDOC custody.
The above violators were prosecuted by the Office of the District Attorney General Jared Effler.
