Three Charged in Winfield Crash

Three people, identified as Hope Barnett, Jonathon Wood and River Humfleet. are facing multiple charges following a high-speed pursuit that reached 120 miles per hour before concluding with a crash in Winfield, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).
Barnett has been charged with evading arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. Wood is charged as a fugitive from justice. Humfleet faces charges of evading arrest, fugitive from justice, and theft of property involving a motor vehicle.
According to SCSO, deputies initially spotted the vehicle traveling at approximately 90 mph along Highway 27 near Oneida on Wednesday. As deputies attempted to catch the car, the vehicle continued northbound. National Park Service (NPS) officers later 
recorded the vehicle traveling 120 mph through the Winfield area.
The police pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed and all three occupants fled the scene on foot, prompting a large-scale search involving SCSO, NPS, Oneida Police Department, and Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Barnett was apprehended at the crash scene, while Wood was arrested later that evening. Investigators said Wood was wanted in Kentucky on charges of first-degree assault and first-degree burglary stemming from an incident in London, Kentucky.
Following several days of investigation, deputies identified Humfleet as the alleged driver. He was located and arrested Saturday morning near Leatherwood. According to police, Humfleet was also wanted in Kentucky on charges of first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and a parole violation connected to 
the same London incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
