Honor Guard Recruitment and Need – Oneida’s American Legion Post 136 Honor guard an all-volunteer group need new members for our team as well as new uniforms. Anyone interested in learning more about being an Honor Guard member, or in donating for the purchase of uniforms, please call the Veterans Service Office at 423-663-4289, M-F, 8:00AM to 4:30 PM. U.S.S Tennessee Museum Located at Scott County High School will be open June 28th, July 12th & 26th, August 9th & 23rd, September 13th & 27th (Scott County Heritage Festival), October 11th & 25th, November 8th & 22nd and December 6th.
Robbins Elementary School Food Pantry – The Robbins Elementary School Food Pantry will be distributing Food June 17, 2025–3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. The food is being distributed at the Barton Chapel Church 5760 Scott Highway, Robbins, TN. Please, turn off Highway 27 onto School House Road at Keeton Monuments, follow School House Road around to the entrance of Barton Chapel Church. Do not try to enter Barton Chapel Parking Lot off Highway 27. To be eligible for food you must be the parent, grandparent, guardian or a care giver of a child attending Head Start or Robbins Elementary School. You can only pick up for one other Family and you must have a note from that family to pick up their box. If pets are in the Car, they must be under control. No jumping, running around and barking. Free Clothing Distribution – Appalachian Ministry Center, located at 24728 Scott Hwy in Winfield (Old Winfield School Building) will have a free clothing distribution on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 9am-12 noon.
The Annual Laxton Cemetery Decoration will be held on Sunday, June 15th at 11am.
Sexton Memorial Cemetery – Donations accepted or any help in maintaining the Sexton Memorial Cemetery in the Paint Rock Community. Karate for Christ Oneida presents Christ centered karate lessons at Oneida Church of God, 1100 Paint Rock Rd., Oneida, TN. Open to everyone 5 years and up regardless of age, size or shape. Suggested donation of $5.00 per class. For more information call Larry Mason at 302-535-3965.
Highland Harmony Community Chorus – A program created through the Appalachian Society of the Arts is open to area adult and teens (14 and up) who want to sing together in a large group. Rehearsals are on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Oneida. Annual dues is $40 for music and supplies. Homecoming Service – New Light United Baptist Church will have Homecoming Service on Sunday, June 15 at 10 am. Brother Logan Fults will be preaching and we will have special singing as well. Pastor Larry Fults and the church invite everyone to come join us!
