The Scott County Election Office has received a petition requesting the Scott County Election Commission to hold a local option election to authorize the sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises in Scott County, Tennessee. Most people describe this particular referendum as a “Liquor by the Drink” election.
The Scott County Election Office has received a petition requesting the Scott County Election Commission to hold a local option election to authorize retail package stores to sell alcoholic beverages in Scott County, Tennessee.
The Scott County Administrator of Elections and the staff are examining the voter’s signatures on each petition page to determine how many valid signatures have been filed. The last time to file referendum signatures for the upcoming November 5, 2024 is Thursday, August 22, 2024 by 4PM.
In order for this referendum process to succeed at least 396 valid signatures must be identified. After the signature verification process has concluded the members of the Scott County Election Commission will schedule a special called meeting to consider the request to hold these local option elections in Scott County, Tennessee.
Only signatures of legally registered voters in Scott County can be counted as a valid signature. All signatures are reconciled against a master list of county voters to prevent duplicate signatures from counting twice.
