Scripture cake is an apple, fig, walnut cake that was popular the late part of the nineteenth century especially in the southern Appalachians. The cake was meant to teach young girls Bible verses and baking. It can be a form of fun trivia and a great dish to share with friends.
The original recipe only gave the amount per ingredient and the scripture. The earliest recipe was found in the Atlanta Constitution June 27, 1897. Many claim this was also the favorite cake of Dolly Madison, wife of the United States President, James Madison. -recipelion.com
Get out your King James Bible and let’s bake a cake:
Grease a 12-cup non-stick Bundt pan with 1 teaspoon Judges 5:25 (hint it starts with a B).
Sprinkle with raw Jeremiah 6:20, turning pan to coat. Sprinkle 1/3 cup chopped Genesis 43:11 (a_ _ _ _ _ _ _) evenly into the bottom of the pan and set for later.
In a large mixing bowl, beat 1 cup Judges 5:25 along with 1 ½ cups Jeremiah 6:20 —beating until light and fluffy. Beat in 4 (four) Jeremiah 17:11 one at a time. Combine 2 cups 1 Kings 4:22. Mix with 2 teaspoons of Luke 13;21 (baking p_ _ _ _ _ ). Add 2 Chronicles 9:9 to taste (hint: cloves, allspice, nutmeg). Add 2 teaspoons Exodus 30:23 and a pinch of Mark 9:50.
Add to the Judges 5:25 mix. Beat at low speed until all is well combined.
Stir in: 1 teaspoon Proverbs 24:13, along with ½ cup chopped dried Song of Solomon 2:13.
Mix in 1 cup of slivered or chopped Numbers 17:8 and the remaining 2/3 of chopped Genesis 43:11. Add in 4 cups of cored, peeled and coarsely chopped Psalms 17:8.

Spoon batter into prepared Bundt pan. Bake in a 350-degree oven until a wooden pick inserted into the middle comes out clean –about 60 to 65 minutes. (if using a different type of cooking pan the temperature might need to be adjusted)
Cool pan 15 minute; invert onto a wire rack and cool completely. Store at room temperature. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream. Read Psalms 34:8 -beliefnet.com
