Historic Rugby Kicks Off the Festive Season with Thanksgiving Marketplace & Holiday Tea
RUGBY, Tennessee – Step back in time and start your holiday shopping off by supporting local artisans at
Historic Rugby’s annual Thanksgiving Marketplace, happening Friday and Saturday, November 28–29, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.
During this festive two-day event, Rugby’s Commissary, Visitor Centre, and Gallery will be filled with handcrafted goods, local artworks, and one-of-a-kind treasures, perfect for holiday gift-giving. Visitors can also enjoy live craft demonstrations and meet artisans and vendors showcasing their handmade creations.
The Rugby Printing Shop will offer free tours and demonstrations throughout the weekend, and a food truck on-site will serve seasonal treats. For a hearty Southern-style breakfast or lunch, guests can stop by R.M. Brooks Store, located just 1.5 miles west of the village.
Admission to the Thanksgiving Marketplace is free; no reservations are required. Guided tours of Rugby’s historic buildings will also be available for a modest fee.
As part of the holiday festivities, guests are also invited to attend Historic Rugby’s popular Holiday Tea on Saturday, November 29, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. EST in Hester Hall (1331 Rugby Parkway, Rugby, TN 37733), located just behind the Visitor Centre. Tickets for this event are $30 per person and can be purchased at http://www.historicrugby.org/events.
This much-loved tradition always sells out and features delicious food, custom-blended teas, and lively conversation, all hosted by Rugby’s dedicated volunteers. Period dress is encouraged but not required. For groups of six or more, please email Sue at [email protected] or call 423-628-2441, ext. 1 to leave your name and number of guests.
Founded in 1880 as a British colony, Historic Rugby sits beside the Big South Fork National Recreation Area, about 2.5 hours from Nashville and just over an hour from Knoxville. Overnight lodging and additional event details are available at historicrugby.org
