Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony – The public is invited to the annual VFW Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony at the Oneida VFW Post 5669 on Monday, May 26, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am. Lunch will be served at the Post after the conclusion of the program. Please help us honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. Military.
Spaghetti Dinner – The Elgin Community Center located at 184 Elgin St. Robbins, TN is Hosting a Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, May 16, 2025. 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. We will be serving Spaghetti or Chicken Alfredo, Salad, Drink and Ella’s Pies for Dessert. Proceeds will go to paint the Community Center. Price of the Spaghetti Dinner is $8.00 for Adults, Children under 12, $5.00.
Robbins Elementary School Food Pantry – will be distributing Food on May 20, 2025–3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. The food is being distributed at the Barton Chapel Church, 5760 Scott Highway, Robbins, TN. To be eligible for food you must be the parent, grandparent, guardian or a care giver of a child attending Head Start or Robbins Elementary School. You can only pick up for one other Family and you must have a note from that family to pick up their box. If pets are in the Car, they must be under control. No Proof of income required. Free Clothing Distribution – Appalachian Ministry Center, located at 24728 Scott Hwy in Winfield (Old Winfield School Building) will have a free clothing distribution on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 9am-12 noon.
U.S.S Tennessee Museum Located at Scott County High School will be open May 10th & 24th, June 7th (Ham radio ship, weekend) & 28th, July 12th & 26th, August 9th & 23rd, September 13th & 27th (Scott County Heritage Festival), October 11th & 25th, November 8th & 22nd and December 6th.
American Legion Post 136 meets the first Monday of each month at 6:00 PM in the War Memorial Building. Location is 19174 Alberta St. Oneida TN 37841.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5669 meets the last Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. Location is 1578 Sand Cut Rd Oneida, TN 37841.
Perkins Cemetery – The annual meeting of the Perkins Cemetery Community will be held on June 8th, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Donations are needed for the up keep of the cemetery. Send donations to: Opal Anderson, P.O. Box 74, Winfield, TN 37892.
Massey Family Reunion – Memorial Services 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Massey Cemetery, 2484 Sugar Grove Road, Huntsville, TN. Dinner, 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., at the Huntsville City Park, Flat Creek Park, 179 Park Road, Huntsville, TN 37756. Please bring drinks and potluck dishes. Cemetery is open and public, you can go at any time to decorate and take care of your loved one’s grave.Please check the Massey Family site for more information.
Sexton Memorial Cemetery – Donations accepted or any help in maintaining the Sexton Memorial Cemetery in the Paint Rock Community. Highland Harmony Community Chorus – A program created through the Appalachian Society of the Arts is open to area adult and teens (14 and up) who want to sing together in a large group. Rehearsals are on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Oneida. Annual dues is $40 for music and supplies.
