Community Events – December 12th issue
The Robbins Elementary School Food Pantry will be distributing Food on Dec. 17, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. The food is being distributed at the Barton Chapel Church 5760 Scott Highway, Robbins, TN. Please, turn off Highway 27 onto School House Road at Keeton Monuments, follow School House Road around to the entrance of Barton Chapel Church. Do not try to enter Barton Chapel Parking Lot off Highway 27. To be eligible for food you must be the parent, grandparent, guardian or a care giver of a child attending Head Start or Robbins Elementary School. You can only pick up for one other Family and you must have a note from that family to pick up their box. If pets are in the Car, they must be under control. No jumping running around and barking. If you smoke in your car, please roll windows down to let the smoke out before you get to check-in. No Proof of income required. For more information, Please call at, Ella Smith (423) 663-7462
God’s Grace Soup Kitchen is Saturday, December 21 at 11:00 at Helenwood Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. You drive through and your free sack lunch is handed to you from the porch. The lunch is potato soup, ham sandwich and dessert. This food is provided by volunteers from local Scott County churches.
Holiday Garbage Pick-up – The garbage route will be changed the week of Christmas. Garbage will be pickup on Thursday and Friday which will be December 26 and 27th.
Free Breakfast – Dec. 13, 2024, 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The Elgin Community Center will be hosting a Free Breakfast of Sauage, Biscuits, Gravy, and Drink. The meal is free but donations will be gladly accepted. All proceeds go to the upkeep of the Community Center. For more information call Ella Smith at 423-663-7462.
Highland Harmony Community Chorus – A program created through the Appalachian Society of the Arts is open to area adult and teens (14 and up) who want to sing together in a large group. Rehearsals are on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Oneida. Annual dues is $40 for music and supplies.
