Blevins honored with Quilt of Valor
On Thursday, July 25, A representative from the Clinch River Quilt of Valor group presented a quilt to Scott County Veteran, Rosco Blevins at the July VFW Post 5669 monthly meeting. Rosco Blevins is a retired Army Master Sergeant who served our Nation for 22 years including serving in Vietnam.
Quilt of Valor groups across the nation are dedicated to honoring Veterans from all branches of service by gifting them a handmade quilt.Each and every stitch represents a hug to the Veteran from the people of this nation. As to date, 389.099 quilts have been awarded.
If you would like to be a part of this program and help honor Scott County veterans, please call 423-627-7348. We need all quilters of any skill level; and we can even teach you how to sew. You can volunteer by helping piece quilt tops, or quilting or even adding the binding, also helping cut out fabric, ironing quilt blocks on sewing days, donating patriotic fabrics and many other ways. You do not have to make a complete quilt on your own unless you want to.
