OMS lady Indians finish runner- up at Eumss Tournaments
It was the final day of the season for the OMS Lady Indians soccer team as they traveled to Cosby Middle School to compete in the EUMSS Tournament. Win and advance and that’s ex-actly what the Lady Indians did throughout the day, earning a pair of wins to advance to the EUMSS Championship before fi nishing runner-up in the tournament. Game one would see the Lady Indians take on Claiborne County. After a slow start to the contest, Oneida began to build steam. Falling behind 1-0, the Lady Indians fought back and with a trifecta of goals from Zoie Terry, Oneida would come away with a 3-1 victory to advance. Addison Cross and Jerah Kline each had eight shot attempts in the game while Madison Foster added a shot attempt of her own. Ryleigh Boutwell fi nished the game with four saves. Advancing to the semifi nals later in the day, the Lady Indians faced Cumberland Gap, a team they had defeated at home just a couple of weeks before. Another close contest would come from the game, but it was Oneida that would advance to the championship as the Lady Indians would earn the 2-1 win over the Lady Panthers. Addison Cross would score the pair of goals for Oneida while Ryleigh Boutwell would fi nish the game with 13 saves. The EUMSS Championship game would be between the Lady Indians and the hosting Cosby Lady Eagles. Unfortunately, the Lady Indians would simply run out of gas in their third contest of the day as they would fall by a final score of 9-1. The lone goal for Oneida would be off the foot of Addison Cross. Ryleigh Boutwell fi nished the game with a total of 15 saves. Ryleigh Boutwell, Maddie Pike, Madison Foster, Jerah Kline, Julie Chambers, Zoie Terry, and Addison Cross were all named to the EUMSS All-Tournament Team for their performance on Saturday.
