Your Daily Nugget Of Good

A Puppy in a fire department.
(East Haven Fire Department)
A beagle puppy in East Haven, Connecticut, has a new job after being rescued from a dangerously hot car last week. The 6-month-old puppy was found in a locked car that was over 120 degrees. After the Fire Department helped free him from the car, the puppy was surrendered to animal control.

Now, the beagle is set to become a support dog at the East Haven fire station. In his new role, he’ll help firefighters cope with stresses of their job “Our yet-to-be-named puppy will live among the crews and serve as a welcomed and friendly distraction from the team’s duties,” Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli said. “Vet care, food and other expenses will be funded through donations.” The department is seeking public help naming the pup through an online vote.
