Compliance with AHERA Management Plan Annual
Notification Requirement

On October 22, 1986 President Ronald Reagan signed
into law the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act
(AHERA), which required the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) to promulgate the final rules that all public
and private schools develop Asbestos Management
plans and submit them to each state’s Governor, or their
designees annually beginning in October of 1988. We are
pleased to inform you that Scott County Schools has complied
with all aspects of this regulation.
The Management Plan, which includes previous asbestos
abatement projects, six months surveillance reports, the
location and condition of the remaining asbestos containing
materials in our buildings, as well as the response action
chosen for each, is available for your review at the following
location: Scott County Board of Education, 208 Court
Street, Huntsville, Tennessee 37756.
This written annual notification is required by AHERA regulations.

Notice of Class Availability
Scott County Schools will make its federally funded career
and technical classes available to homeschool students
and private school students on a space available basis. We
will also make federally funded professional development
available to private school teachers as required by statute.

Management Plan Availability
To: Parents, Teachers, and Employees

Date: July 1, 2023
Prior to July 1989, the Scott County Board of Education
submitted a Management Plan to the Tennessee Department
of Finance and Administration. The Management Plan details
all areas where asbestos containing material are present
in the Scott County Schools and the manner in which the
material will be handled.
The Management Plan is available to the public for review
at the administration office. Viewing time will be 8:30
a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 208 Court Street,
Huntsville, TN 37756.
The Management Plan is updated every six months beginning
July 9, 1989, with progress reports being submitted to
the state annually.

Notice
The Town of Huntsville will hold a public hearing on
Resolutions: 23-07-01 Adopting a Plan of Services for
Annexation of a parcel at Map 85C, Group A, Parcel
32.00; and 23-07-02 Proposing the Annexing of Certain
Territory by Owner Consent
The public hearing will take place at the Huntsville
Municipal Building at 6:00 pm on Thursday, August
17, 2023. The public is invited to attend.

Annual Notice of Nondiscrimination
