Obituaries

Vera Jean Terry Hancock-Slaven, age 86 of
Oneida, TN, departed this life on July 7, 2023,
with her family by her side. Vera was saved as
a teenager and was a long-time member of the
Leatherwood Baptist Church. She loved attending
Church and singing. Born May 9, 1937, in
Scott County, TN, she was the daughter of the
late Segal and Nova Marie Terry.
In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in
death by her first husband: Larry C. Hancock; daughters: Marilyn Acres
and infant daughters, Sheila Jo and Lila Jill Hancock; in-laws: Obie J. and
Hazel Payne Hancock; six sisters: Maxine Terry, Judy Smith, Velma Walker
Caldwell, Justeen Phillips, Leda Faye Burress, and one infant sister; and
one brother: Grover Terry.
Vera leaves behind her husband: R. O. Slaven; daughter: Matilda Thompson;
son: Mark Hancock; son-in-law: Rob Acres; three grandchildren: Dr.
Caleb (Misty) Thompson, Erin (Michael) Laxton, and Quentin Acres; seven
great grandchildren whom she always called her little darlin’s: Monroe,
Lyla and Lincoln Thompson, and Miles, Marron, Elden and Elias Laxton;
as well as several other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Hancock-Slaven family on Tuesday, July 11,
2023, from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the
Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Reynolds and Bro.
Bradley Kidd officiating. Music will be provided by Doris and Junior Potter,
Quentin Acres, and Monroe Thompson.
Committal service will follow in the Black Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will
be family and friends.

Willie Lowe, age 78 of the Norma community
passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023. He was
born on January 13, 1945, in Clinchmore, TN, to
the late Deloise and Blanche Raines Lowe. He
was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Shirley Ann Gibson Lowe; sisters,
Janice McKamey and Maxine Lowe; father
and mother-in-law, Virgil and Grace Gibson.
He is survived by his sons, Eugene (Selena) Lowe, Billy (Sonya) Lowe,
Jeffrey (Shannon) Lowe, and Vernon (Joni) Lowe; stepson Cody Laxton;
grandchildren, Brandi (Sean) Harris, Logan Lowe, Chase (Kira) Lowe,
Chloe (Caney) Minton, Elissa (Holden) Henry, Braxton (Joshua) King,
Hunter Lowe, Chelsea Lowe, Justice Lowe, Alexis Lowe, Megan Lowe,
Kayli Lowe, Morgan Lowe; six great grandchildren; brothers, James, Lenny,
and Bob; sisters, Shelby Jean, Paulette, Annette, Wilma, Imagine, Terry,
Connie, and Paula; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, James
Day.
Friends may visit with the Lowe family on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 1
p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley
Funeral Home with Bro. Dudley Harness and Bro. Ricky Sharpe officiating.
Music will be provided by the Mason family and Hannah Sharpe.
Committal service will follow in the Smokey Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers
will be: Chase Lowe, Mark Lowe, Bob Lowe, Allen Gibson, Ricky Sharpe,
and Cody Laxton. Honorary pallbearer will be Logan Lowe.

Myrtle Ann Chambers age 84, of the Pioneer
Community departed this life on Sunday, July
16, 2023, at the UT Medical Center surrounded
by family. She was born on October 21, 1938, in
Lafollette, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the
late Wheeler Carroll and the late Edith McNeely
Evans. She was a wonderful and loving mother
& grandmother to all her family. A memory that
will never be forgotten is the wise cracker that
she was with the best jokes. She enjoyed fishing,
reading, sewing, & rescuing dogs. Her greatest love was her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband:
James Ray Chambers; Sons: Steve, Johnny Dwayne, Donald Ray, & Jamie
Chambers; Great-Granddaughter: Lindsey Butler.
Myrtle is survived by her remaining children, Son: Greg Chambers and
partner Stephanie Harrison; Daughters: Tammy (Larry) Strunk, Pattie
Chambers, & Sharon (Chris) Ellis; Grandchildren: Stacey, Judy, Adam,
Sabra, Courtney, Parker, Dewey, Bayli (Logan), Trevor, Krista, Telisha, Eli,
& Avery; Sixteen Great Grandchildren; Three Great-Great-Grandchildren;
Brothers: Bruce & Stanley Evans of Lafollette, Tennessee; Special fur babies:
Gizmo, Spanky, & Binx.
Myrtle’s wishes were no funeral service but, a private service in the Chapel
of the Four Oaks Funeral Home in Huntsville with her family on Thursday,
July 20, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Allred
Cemetery, Pioneer, Tennessee, with words provided by: son-in-law, Chris
Ellis.

Roberta “Lynn” Huckeby, age 57 of Robbins,
TN went home to be with the Lord on Sunday,
July 9, 2023, with her family by her side. She was
born in Scott County, TN on October 20, 1965, to
the late Michael Miske and Gail and Leslie (Joe)
Sexton. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
She loved her grandbabies and kids more than
anything.
In addition to her dad, Michael Miske, Lynn was
preceded in death by her grandparents, Haskel
and Mary Huckeby; aunts, Faye Huckeby and
Patricia Chambers; uncles, Junior, Bill, Sam, and Coy Huckeby.
Lynn leaves behind her lifetime companion, Leslie Sexton; her daughter,
Damara Parton (Daniel Silcox); her son, Erik Parton (Kristen Riseden);
seven grandchildren, Xavier, Kennix, Zakoda, and Kyzleigh Parton,
Journee, Kamara, and Kyree Silcox; her mother, Gail and dad Leslie (Joe)
Sexton; brothers, Tony Woodard (Becky), David (Karen) Woodard; sister,
Jennifer (Jason) Byrd; special aunt, Connie (David) Litton; several nieces
and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as several other family
members; special friends, Lisa Thompson Griffith, Angela Crisp, Dawn
Branim Miller, and Nancy Brumfield.
Friends may visit with the Huckeby family on Wednesday, July 12, 2023
from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 4 p.m. in the chapel
of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Carlie Duncan officiating. Music
will be provided by Brittany Hall and Bethany Hatfield.
Committal service will follow in the Coal Hill Cemetery in the Glenmary
community. Pallbearers will be: Kennix Parton, Tony Woodard, David
Woodard, Derrick Litton, Jason Byrd, Lee Riseden, Randy Huckeby, and
Leslie Sexton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Xavier and Zakoda Parton,
and Brandon Woodard.
