In western Turkey’s Izmir Bird Paradise National Park, thousands of flamingo chicks, known as flamingets, have recently hatched. The flamingets are born a smoky gray color, and stay on land for several weeks before beginning to stomp into the water, which is the place where they will afterward spend most of their time. By the way, a group of flamingoes is called a “flamboyance” of flamingoes, which just seems perfect.
