Rennova Health, the new owners of the previous Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott, is open to suggestions on what to call the hospital once it is reopens.
Scott County Community Hospital, Inc. began soliciting suggestions for what to name the new facility on its Facebook page on Monday. More than 100 people quickly chimed in with their own suggestions.
A majority of posters reccomended calling it "Scott County Hospital" as it was known long before it was owned by healthcare companies such as St. Mary's.
"Scott County Hospital sounds great since that's what we all call it anyway," posted Jacob Massey.
There were a handful of suggestions to name the hospital for landmarks. Some were in favor of "Big South Fork Regional Medical Center" or "South Fork Regional"
Some people wanted to start fresh and suggested names such as "New Beginnings Hospital" or "New Beginnings Medical Center."
Some suggesting naming the hospital after prominent physicians such as Dr. George Kline or Dr. H.M. Leeds.
Citizens can offer their input on the name of the hospital through Jan. 31 by going to the Scott County Community Hospital, Inc. Facebook page.
Florida-based Rennova Health announced in December that they'd reached a settlement with Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott to take over the bankrupt facility. The hospital in Oneida will be Rennova's first venture into the hospital business. Their primary business has been performing lab work, much like Labcorps or Quest.
The hospital is expected to open later this spring and employ about 80 people full time.
